The following information is taken from the state's Coaching Education Host Packet. Please review if your club is interested
in hosting a clinic for coaches in your area. It's an easy way to promote club-wide compliance with the WYSA/MAYSA requirement
that all coaches be registered and certified.
COURSE HOST INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE THE COURSE:
Course Requests
Interested clubs should contact MAYSA (vabshere@maysa.org) to coordinate course requests with the State Office. Course requests will only
be granted with a guarantee of the use of a suitable facility (see facility requirements below.) Approval will be based on the existing schedule and
availability of instructors. The minimum required lead times for requested coaching education courses are as follows:
Y1: 3-4 weeks
Y2: 3-4 weeks
E: 6 weeks
D: 2-3 months
Facility Cost
It is the responsibility of the host organization to secure the use of a suitable facility. The host bears any rental
costs incurred for Y1, Y2 and Goalkeeping courses. Facility expense reimbursements are available on a per candidate
basis of $15 for E, and $30 for D level courses. (Request the form to submit for reimbursement from WYSA.)
Advertisement & Registration
All WYSA coaching education courses are posted to the WYSA website.
Registration is conducted completely online and the minimum number of coaches must be registered 14 days before the
course date to avoid cancellation. (15 coaches for GK, Y1, Y2 and E courses and 24 coaches for D courses)
The State Office and MAYSA will help to promote the course, but hosts are asked to advertise and assure
that the minimum number of registrations is reached.
Course Application & Fee
The Kid Safe Coach Registration constitutes individual membership to Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association. This membership
serves as the state’s Risk Management program and provides coaches with a coach pass card which is required to be on
the sidelines. The cost is $10. Passes are valid for a period of 2 years.
Individuals with a state issued coach pass qualify for ‘member’ registration rates (Y1 - $0, Y2 - $30, E - $100, D - $200).
Registrants will have the option to become a member of WYSA together with their course registration. A non-member fee of
$100 is assessed of applicants who do not qualify for the member rate.
Participants must also meet the minimum age requirements to be eligible for a course (Y1 - 14, Y2 - 14, E - 16, D - 18).
Course Information
The State Office will manage registration and communicate directly with participants. The site administrator will be
provided with a roster of registered coaches via email prior to the course. Any additional information needed at
check-in will also be included.
AT THE COURSE:
Registration/Check-In
The host club is responsible for appointing an on-site administrator to serve as the State Office’s contact.
That person is asked to assure the facility is open at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled course and to conduct
check-in. Check-in will include attendance, the collection of a signed Medical Release and Consent Form from every coach
and distribution of registration instructions to walk-up candidates.
We rely heavily on the attendance lists. Please be sure everyone signs in at the start of the course. Attendance should
be taken before each session. If a participant is aware of a schedule conflict before the course, they must notify the
Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association in writing and the instructor will determine what the individual needs to do to
complete the course.
Course Materials
The instructor will provide all necessary course materials unless otherwise arranged.
AFTER THE COURSE:
Course Results
Certificates will be emailed directly to the candidate and can be reprinted at any time. All paperwork related to the
course such as lesson plans, test forms and evaluation sheets will be mailed to the address provided.
Coach Pass /Risk Management
See above for membership specifics.
Coaches who complete their Kid Safe Coach Registration together with their course registration will receive a state
issued coach pass card after results have been processed. (Generally 3-4 weeks after successful completion of the course.)
Details about coach pass processes, including upgrades, renewals and replacements are available online at the
WYSA website.
