Life After Kindergarten: Next Fall Soccer Sign-up
Team Names and Club Association
The Madison Area Youth Soccer Association (MAYSA) is
the governing body for youth soccer in the Dane County area. We coordinate 38 clubs, with approximately 12,000 players. MAYSA is
responsible for setting the league rules, registering the players with the WI Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) and creating playing schedules
for over 900 teams.
The Kindergarten Soccer Program is unique in that initial registration is done directly through the MAYSA organization. Once we have formed
the teams we "give" the teams to the club in charge of that geographic region. Teams are not allowed to join directly with
MAYSA. They must come through one of the established clubs.
The club, then, takes care of the team's needs after the kindergarten season is completed. Each club is responsible for organizing the kids
in their general geographic area, onto teams. The clubs then bring the completed teams into MAYSA. Kindergarten teams are not forced to
join a particular club they are just directed to the most logical club in their area, hence the name of that club has been incorporated into
your team's name.
A complete list of clubs is available on our Clubs by Community page.
Individual Player Registration
Before your child even completes his or her Kindergarten season, registration
for the fall season will take place in May. Talk to your coach about his or her plans for the team for the upcoming season. If they do not
plan on coaching in the following season the team needs to find a coach so that it might remain together. Otherwise, you will have to
register your child as an independent player with one of the soccer clubs within MAYSA.
What Changes when we sign up for U-7 (First Grade) league play with a MAYSA Club?
- Registration is good for BOTH Fall and Spring Seasons!
- Roster size increases from 10 to 12 maximum.
- Teams play 4 vs 4
- Field is a little bigger but still constructed with cones and flags.
- Program will predominantly be held on Saturday mornings, with the addition of some weeknight games (generally Monday) and you will be scheduled 8 games.
- Travel will be a little farther depending on the league your team is assigned to.
- Still no goalkeepers.
