Policies regarding League Alignment

  MAYSA Recreational League Alignment Policies
  • Age & Gender – Boys (co-ed) and Girls leagues will be formed according to age group (e.g., Under-9, U10, etc.). On occasion, age groups may be merged.
  • Geography – Geography is a greater consideration in the formation of Recreational-level leagues.
  • Level of Play – All matches within league play will be competitive. Geography may have to yield as a league-formation criteria if two teams are fairly close to one another but are unlikely to be competitive with one another. MAYSA does not have a strict promotion/relegation policy.
  • Number of Teams – The size of the league will vary based on the above criteria and may range from five (5) teams to ten (10) teams. All teams participating in MAYSA leagues will be assured eight (8) games in the Fall & Spring seasons, respectively.
  • Coach/Manager Feeback on Alignments – Prior to the scheduling process and the commencement of the season, team coaches & managers will be given the opportunity to provide information or feedback about their team’s placement. MAYSA recognizes feedback and typically makes changes accordingly but cannot guarantee that there will be changes to league alignments.
