Assigning Referees
  • U9 U14 Recreational Leagues: All MAYSA scheduled games will have the referees assigned by a licensed assignor. Assignors are independent contractors (like the referees) so each club has contracted with an assignor. Here is the list of licensed assignors in the area and the clubs they are associated with: Licensed Referee Assignors by Club.
  • High School Small Sided, Classic and State Leagues: Teams in these divisions have their referees assigned by MAYSA, based on availability.

Who is responsible for paying the officials?
For MAYSA Classic and WYSA State Leagues, each team pays half of the fee(s).
For MAYSA Recreational League, (including High School Small Sided), the home team pays the entire fee.
For your club's In-House league, check your club's policy.
In all leagues, fees should be paid to all officials before the game starts.

MAYSA does not require Assistant Referees for recreational level matches. This is a choice by the host team/club and above is the payment recommendation. A reminder that teams are only required to pay the referees who show up for the game. For example, at the U12 Classic level, if only a Center Ref and one AR show up to a scheduled match, starting in Fall 2013 a total of $42 is dispersed.
